KUALA LUMPUR: REAL or engineered, Covid-19 is out there and the risk related to it is not fiction.
Health experts had this to say about conspiracy theorist Dr James Fetzer’s claims that the pandemic was orchestrated by parties seeking to profit from such a disruption.
Virologist Dr Chee Hui Yee said: “Whether the virus is real or engineered, the virus is already out there.
“What we need to do is to follow the Health Ministry’s advice, take necessary precautions to protect ourselves and our loved ones,” she said, chuckling over the suggestion, which is the umpteenth viral theory by a plandemist (conspiracy theorists who believe the pandemic was planned) the Universiti Putra Malaysia associate professor had encountered.
On the gamut of claims about the domination of vaccine-producing companies by business magnates and the deep state, Dr Chee also shook her head in disbelief at the suggestions and stressed that vaccine distribution and procurement was not a simple process.
“Even if a vaccine is available, it still needs to go through regulatory checks and obtain approvals from respective authorities of each country.
“Unless your country does not make it compulsory that you have to be vaccinated, it is your right to choose either to be vaccinated or otherwise,” she said while rubbishing the unverified content.
Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia president Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh felt the veracity of these articles was suspicious.
“We cannot be too sure of such articles. It’s important to be safe rather than sorry.
“Time will tell what’s the real story. For now, let’s follow all the advisories that we have both from our authorities in Malaysia and those from abroad.”
Fetzer claimed that there was a collective of doctors who viewed the pandemic to be orchestrated. An article claimed that millions of Covid-19 test kits were sold in 2017 and 2018.
The article also went on to reprise claims that Bill Gates and United States government’s infectious diseases expert Dr Anthony Fauci were in on it together due to their predictions of the coming of a catastrophic pandemic.
Gates himself had admitted that this was ironic as in 2015 he had “actually predicted this and tried to forewarn the world”.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has, however, pledged more than US$350 million to fight Covid-19, including funds for vaccine manufacturing efforts at AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, and Novavax.
